Before all this talk surrounding Barbie’s birthday, that last time Barbie came up in conversation for me was a couple of years ago at a social gathering with former classmates from undergrad and a former prof of ours. I forget how we landed on the subject, but Barbie came up. Of the eight or so young women there, I was the only one in the room who was allow to play with Barbie dolls as a child (I even got to play with my mother’s Barbie and Ken from the 1950’s/1960’s).
I like to think I turned out okay…
